Valgard is a top-down shoot ’em up, but with some very peculiar characteristics:
- In almost every top-down shoot ’em up the main character don’t collide with the environment, even because in the majority of the games the main character is flying. In Valgard you are a person, and you walk in the environment, you can fall, you can get stuck and even fall in traps. Obviously, some enemies are subject to this too.
- You can shoot forward and backward, while you walk in any direction. This feature provides a much more circular combat and opens a lot of awesome enemy behavior. You can shoot forward and backward, while you walk in any direction. - There are traps, as was said before, but the curious thing about is that you can use the traps against your enemies. You have only to find the switch before them.
- Every stage has a boss fight tailored for the environment. All these fights are planned to be very challenging and tricky. Our main reference for this, besides Knightmare and Elemental Master, is Dark Souls.
